A Bagpiper in Iowa
Bio
Welcome. My name is Mark Hurm, aka. a bagpiper in Iowa. I am a naval veteran, and a retired peace officer, as well as a member of the honor guard for VFW Post #738. I spent 12.5 years as a member of the Mackenzie Highlanders Pipes and Drums of Iowa and Pipe Sergeant for the band 2017-2022. For five years, I had the honor of being the Society Piper for the Scottish Heritage Society of Iowa. 2023 Appointed Pipe Major 99th Regimental Scots Guards Pipes and Drums. Music speaks the language of the soul and nothing could be more true when it comes to the Great Highland Bagpipes. My pledge to you is this: whether you are celebrating the joys or sharing in the sorrows of life, my pipes will play true for you. I invite you to explore what the pipes can do for you.

Piping to the Seasons
A Story Steeped in Sound
What ever the season, whatever the occasion, my pipes will play true for you. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, or family get-togethers, the sound of the pipes will create a moment of memory for all.

Winter
The cold and snow are not strangers to my pipes, performing at gravesite, holiday celebrations, the music of the pipes; well, we Pipe On yearly.

Spring
Called to pipe for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, with numerous memorial services on the State Capital grounds and at grave sites, throughout Iowa, as a piper, I pipe them home.

Summer and Fall
There are many venues and requests for the pipes. Come rain or shine, my motto is "Pipe On".
